The dependable truck for outdoor work
Diesel and LPG forklift trucks are counterbalance trucks driven by an internal combustion engine. Their main advantages over electric equivalents are that they work without waiting to charge and that they stand up to hard outdoor conditions.
Refuelling takes minutes, so they create no downtime in operations running three shifts. This is also the class of choice in the heavy capacity ranges and on sloping sites.

Diesel-Electric Drive
The diesel engine powers a generator and an electric motor drives the wheels: speed is controlled smoothly and the brakes wear less in stop-start work.

LPG Option
Allows work in semi-enclosed areas with lower emissions than a diesel.

Frequently asked questions about diesel and LPG forklift trucks
Can we use a diesel truck in an enclosed warehouse?
With adequate ventilation it is technically possible, but we do not recommend it. Indoors, exhaust emissions are a problem both for the health of the people working there and under the regulations. Electric is the better fit indoors and LPG in semi-enclosed areas.
Should we choose diesel or LPG?
If you work entirely outdoors, diesel has the advantage on both fuel cost and durability. If part of the work happens in semi-enclosed areas, LPG offers an easier middle ground on emissions.
We are thinking of moving to electric; when does that make sense?
It makes sense if most of the work happens indoors and the shift pattern leaves room for charging or opportunity charging. Before the decision we measure how many hours the existing truck actually runs and where; in most operations outdoor use turns out to be lower than expected.
What is the maintenance interval?
It depends on operating hours. If fleet management is connected, the service date is tracked automatically and flagged in advance; if it is not, we set a calendar under the service contract.
What do you recommend for winter conditions?
The right tyres, cabin equipment and lighting are the three basics. On top of that we recommend laser safety lights and blind spot detection on trucks working outdoors; they make a difference when visibility drops.
Do you supply ex-proof (explosion-protected) trucks for the chemical industry?
We do not carry out ex-proof conversions. The work requires the electrical and drive components of the truck to be rebuilt to ATEX requirements, and it is done by specialist firms. If you have such a requirement we can help you choose the truck and point you to a firm that carries out the conversion.
