Pallet Truck Foot Protection Systems
Pallet Truck Foot Protection Systems
Your feet stay on the ground, your safety rests with the sensor. A touch-sensitive foot protection switch on pedestrian pallet trucks, and a safety laser scanner on platform models.
- Touch-sensitive area sensor
- Multi-beam laser scanner
- OSSD outputs
- Deflector kit
Two truck types, one approach to safety
The right sensor for the way the truck is used: pedestrian-controlled pallet trucks get a touch switch that stops the truck the instant it touches a foot, while platform models with a ride-on operator get a safety laser scanner that monitors the area around the feet without contact.
Both solutions prevent crushing and run-over accidents at source.
- Pedestrian type: the truck stops the moment it touches a foot.
- Platform type: the area around the feet is monitored optically, without contact.
- The result: foot and ankle injury risk is reduced at source.

The most frequently injured area: feet and ankles
Foot and ankle injuries are among the most common injuries in materials handling accidents, and the quiet running of electric pallet trucks adds to the risk.
- Run-over: a foot ends up under the forks while manoeuvring in the pull direction.
- Crushing: the operator is caught between the truck and racking, a wall or a pallet.
- Going unnoticed: the truck approaches silently in a noisy warehouse.
- The sensitive surface sensor of the switch stops the truck the instant it touches a foot.
- The laser scanner brings the truck to a safe stop before a crushing risk can arise.
- OSSD outputs keep the system safe even in the event of a fault.
The right sensor for the truck type
Two solutions, chosen according to how the truck is used, serve the same aim: protecting the feet.
Pedestrian type – detection
The area sensor registers the moment a foot touches the body of the truck.
Pedestrian type – stopping
The control unit stops the truck and signals the condition with an LED and buzzer.
Platform type – scanning
The scanner at the platform edge monitors the area around the feet without contact.
Platform type – prevention
At the moment of risk the truck stops safely, before any crushing can occur.

The hardware behind both systems
Quick-change components that adapt to almost any truck contour.
Area sensor
Works together with a control unit featuring an LED and buzzer.
Deflector kit
Absorbs side impacts to protect the sensor and the body (optional).
Adaptable design
Suits almost any truck contour, with quick spare part replacement.
Contactless scanning
On platform models the area around the feet is monitored optically at all times.
Suited to high speeds
It protects during fast platform movements as well.
OSSD outputs
An output structure that stays safe even in the event of a fault.
Two solutions in practice
Real-world scenarios on pedestrian and platform pallet trucks.

Anywhere people move alongside the truck
Narrow-Aisle Warehouses
An extra safety layer in narrow aisles where the operator walks with the truck.
High-Speed Dispatch
It reduces foot and ankle injury risk during fast manoeuvres.
Cold Stores
Automatic stopping where reactions are slower.
Multi-Shift Facilities
Protection when pedestrian and truck interaction peaks at shift changes.
