Reach Trucks

Safe access to high racking in narrow aisles. The most common way to get more pallets out of the same building.

  • 1.4 – 2.5 tonnes
  • Up to 13 m
  • Narrow aisle
  • Camera supported
  • Fully electric
Overview

More pallets in the same space

A reach truck is an electric stacking truck whose mast or fork carriage moves forwards and backwards. That movement brings the load inside the wheelbase of the truck; no counterweight is needed and the truck can work in a much narrower aisle.

The practical result is this: more racking, and therefore more pallet positions, fit into the same floor area. A reach truck is often not a truck decision but a space decision.

  • Narrow aisle: Needs markedly less manoeuvring space than a counterbalance truck.
  • High reach: Lift options up to 13 metres put the vertical space of the warehouse to use.
  • Fully electric: No exhaust and no high noise levels indoors.

Where It Is Used

Which warehouses a reach truck suits

Space Efficiency

High-Density Racking

Warehouses where aisle width is critical and pallet positions need to be maximised.

High Throughput

Logistics Centres

Distribution centres with heavy daily movements and high racking.

Production Supply

Production Buffer Stores

Areas beside production where raw material and part-finished goods are held in high racking.

Special Conditions

Cold Stores

Can be used in cold chain warehouses when configured with low-temperature equipment.

Where It Fits in the Process

Which steps of the chain it covers

The main job of a reach truck is putaway; it is also used to reach the racking during order picking and dispatch preparation.

Key Features

What decides the choice

Comfort over a full shift shapes output as much as capacity and height do.

01

Camera and Display

At height, the forks and the rack opening are followed on the display in the cabin; the operator no longer has to look up.

02

Cabin Ergonomics

A sideways seating position, an adjustable seat and armrest controls reduce neck and back strain over a long shift.

03

Energy Options

Lead-acid or lithium-ion; opportunity charging or battery changing, depending on the shift pattern.

04

Mast Options

The same body is configured with different mast heights; as the height increases, the usable capacity falls.

Model Range

Capacity and lift height are linked: as the height increases, the usable capacity falls. The right combination is established through a site analysis.

Why Expartise

The truck on its own is not the solution

The return on the investment depends on how well the truck fits your warehouse and your process. That is where we start.

01

Site Analysis

We do not recommend a truck before we have measured your aisles, racking, order profile and shift pattern.

02

Kartepe Workshop

Maintenance, repair and overhaul are carried out by our own technicians in our own workshop in Kartepe, an industrial region about an hour east of Istanbul.

03

Genuine Parts

Supply of STILL genuine spare parts and stock planning matched to your fleet.

04

Safety Integration

Collision avoidance, speed limiting and camera systems can be fitted to the truck at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about reach trucks

What is the difference between a reach truck and a counterbalance forklift truck?

A counterbalance forklift truck carries the load outside its body and balances it with the weight at the rear; it needs a wide manoeuvring area and it also works outdoors. A reach truck brings the load inside its body, works in a much narrower aisle and lifts higher, but it is designed for indoor use on sound floors.

Which lift height should I choose?

The top rack level of your racking system is the starting point. But as the height increases, the capacity the truck can carry at that height falls. Height and capacity are therefore chosen together, with your heaviest pallet in mind.

We want to narrow our aisles; how much would we gain?

The gain depends on your current aisle width and your pallet dimensions. In the site analysis we set the existing layout against a reach truck layout and show the number of pallet positions you would gain as a figure. The decision comes after that.

Our floor is not very even; will that be a problem?

A reach truck works without trouble on most warehouse floors. As the height increases, floor flatness becomes critical; for applications above 10 metres we recommend a floor survey.

Can we try one before buying?

Yes. With short-term rental you can test the truck in your own warehouse with your own pallets. We particularly recommend this because a reach truck calls for different driving habits from a counterbalance forklift truck.
