The limit of space efficiency
VNA (very narrow aisle) trucks are designed to work in very narrow aisles and can both stack and pick. The cabin rises with the load, so the operator works level with the rack location.
This class takes the number of pallet positions that can be achieved in a given building to its maximum. In return it is more demanding on racking, floor and guidance systems; it is less a truck investment than a warehouse design decision.

Frequently asked questions about VNA trucks
Can we convert our existing warehouse to VNA?
Sometimes it is possible, sometimes not. The deciding factors are floor flatness and the tolerances of the racking system. In existing warehouses we carry out a floor survey first; if the result is not suitable, we take the cost of levelling the floor into account and make the decision with you.
Does it make sense to buy a VNA truck instead of a reach truck?
It makes sense if your cost per square metre is high and the pallet positions you need do not fit into the existing space. VNA means narrower aisles and higher racking, in other words markedly more pallets in the same building. But the investment and the infrastructure requirements are also higher than for a reach truck.
What does a guidance system mean?
To travel through a very narrow aisle without striking the racking, VNA trucks need guidance. This is provided either by steel rails laid along the aisle or by inductive wire set into the floor. Which one fits depends on the number of aisles and the working pattern.
The operator will be working at height; how is safety provided?
The cabin is enclosed and fitted with safety equipment. On top of that we assess zone safety, pedestrian detection and speed limiting at the aisle entrances together as part of the project.
